NAC and the Embassy of the Netherlands Discuss Prospects for Cooperation

On 28 July, Rassul Kospanov, a political scientist at the National Analytical Center, visited the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kazakhstan, where he met with Mr Jan Willem de Wolf, Defence Attaché for Central Asia.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of Kazakhstan–Netherlands relations, Kazakhstan’s cooperation with the European Union, as well as issues related to the energy sector, the investment climate, and human capital development in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was noted that the Netherlands remains the largest foreign investor in Kazakhstan’s economy. Since Kazakhstan gained independence, Dutch investment has exceeded $120 billion, with more than 80% of the total directed to the oil and gas sector. Bilateral trade reached $6.3 billion last year.

Rassul Kospanov shared his assessment of the dynamics of bilateral relations and the prospects for further cooperation between Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, and the European Union.

Particular attention was paid to the activities of the National Analytical Center. The NAC representative briefed his Dutch colleagues on the Center’s main areas of research and its completed analytical projects.

Following the meeting, the parties noted the significant potential for developing expert and research cooperation on Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
